Dear diary...

I gonna tell you something special, something I couldn't believe in untill my plane took off. It was an ordinary school day, when somebody called me on my mobile phone. "Hello! Is it Elina?" "Yes", I replied. "Do you pack you suitcases and prepare for you trip to United States?", I heard the kind woman voice. The only thing that I could say was just "Wow!" Yes, I was selected for Benjamin Franklin programme! I couldn't belive in it!22 days in America! Doing some projects, learning new about people, America itself, sharing experiences... It seems great! I'm so lucky! It should be the best days in my life:) Firstly, I was strucked by American people. They are very friendly and generous. Even when we were at the airport in Minneapolis, we understood it. We needed to mail our parents but the computer service costed $1. We had to change money. A woman, sitting near us, heard what we were talking about and just offered money without any return. Then I really like the country itself, everything is so clean and nice. And... of course, it might seem to you a bit odd, but... I really like the "Target". Actually, we don't have such big supermarkets in our country, so you can imagine my delight when I was going through it and telling like "Wow, this shirt is cool, this lipstick is pretty nice, and this book is just perfect!" So, I have 18 days, three weeks of happiness.. Am I dreaming?...

Great people

I think, all of us has some people that influenced our lives. It might be our parents (probably!), teachers, friends or just stars. They might not know about our existance, leaving their own lives and being happy. But... Now I would like to tell you about people that affected my life, that brought something new in it and just changed it greatly.
First of all it is my parents! Thank to them I'm just creating this blog :)) Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to download the picture of them.

Another great person is Kate Adie. The reason is that woman helped me to define my future career. It was just a dull autumn evening, when I was reading my textbook and suddenly I saw her. The picture of the good-looking woman, covering news from the hot point of the Earth really strucked me. Then I knew she was the reporter of BBC. It became something of a joke in the British army that when Kate Adie arrived on the scene, the soldiers knew they were in trouble. She is the woman and she doesn't afraid to do her job. After that I decided to choose the most exciting career, as I think, in the world - journalist. Thank you, Kate!

Moreover, music is another my weakness . Since 14-years-old age I have been listening to love metal music. This music, according to words of my favourite frontman Ville Valo, is like a "young romantic crying through the vintage eye-glasses". So, he changed my life in some kind. I do appreciate his music, as it helps to understand me some things in life. It's like a one-way ticket out of here. I mean, if you feel blue, if you're extremely happy, all you need to do is just turn on your favourite music...

And also I'm very thankful to Benjamin Franklin. "If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading or do things worth writing". He lived these words of wisdom by writing as much as he possibly could and by doing even more. He became famous for being a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. He had many new ideas for publishing and he is known for printing cartoons, illustrated news stories, and letters to the editor. He believed in the power of the press, using his printing press as a way to bring the news to all people. He used cartoons and pictures so that everyone could understand the news, even people who had not learned to read.

I'm feeling very grateful to one of my teachers of English language Ms. Weiss. She helped me to overcome one of the most important steps in my life. Lisa, thank you for everything you have done for me!!

Of course, there are lots of other people that I can characterize as "great". You will know about them a bit later. I promise :))

Ukraine

There is a little point in potraying my country Ukraine as something it is not. I just say that it is a young country, that became independent in 1991. It is situated in the south-eastern part of Central Europe. So, what my country is famous for? Well, I guess, everybody know Kossaks, the national dish borsch and "an orange revolution". Some people consider Ukraine being the vast plain, but if we take the Crimean Mountains in the Crimean peninsula and the Carpathians in the west, we will see that it is not true. Due to its favorable climatic conditions, Ukraine is traditionally an agricultural area. You can find lots of wheat, maize, buckwheat, corn, red and green vegetables, all kinds of fruit, melons and berries. So, you won't feel the lack of fruits during the summer time. But, of course, Ukraine produces different goods, ranging from sea vessels to TV-sets. Moreover, Ukraine has lots of places of interest. First of all it is Kiev with wonderful Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Sofia Cathedral, Andrew's Church, such streets as Kreschatik (the first picture), then it is cultural centres Kharkov, Poltava, Simferopol. And such towns of Crimea as Feodosia, Sudak, Bahchisaraj are lke the history lessons come to life. It's just me

Hi! My name is Elina. I can characterize myself in three words: vivid, active and persistant. There is no point in describing all my hobbies, but.. I should say journalism, music and sport is something I can't live without. I like adventurous, risk and don't afraid of problems. I remember one person saying such expression: "Only brave people can find the happiness".. Who knows? May be he was right. I think, the main rool of our life is never give up and go ahead. It's just my thoughts.. My blog is about me, people who influenced my life greatly, journalism, my country, and of course about music! That's why i decided to call it like "smashing mixture of..." Of everything, i guess :))
